Alicia Nieves is an Emmy award-winning reporter who joined PIX 11 News in April 2019. This is her first time reporting in the tri-state area, but she is not new to the region. Nieves is a proud native New Yorker who was born and raised in the Bronx. Joining PIX 11 fulfills a life-long dream to cover news that matters in her hometown.
Before joining the team, Nieves was a general assignment reporter for CBS in Philadelphia. There, she was part of the historical coverage of the city’s first-ever Super Bowl victory and was amongst the team of reporters who covered both of Bill Cosby’s sexual assault trials. However, the story she connected to and covered the most, while is Philadelphia, was the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Hundreds of thousands of people in the Philadelphia region had no connection to loved ones on the island after the storm, including Nieves, so she went down there, reconnected loved ones on the island to those in Philadelphia and along the way, was also able to find her family. The collective coverage in Puerto Rico earned Nieves her first Emmy.
Nieves has also reported in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania for WNEP-TV and in Binghamton, NY for WBNG-TV. For her entire career, she has been passionate about telling stories that matter, in a way that matters. So feel free to reach out to her on social media, if you have a story idea in the tri-state area.
