BRIGHTON, N.Y. — Police in suburban Rochester say a woman and a 9-year-old child have died after a vehicle struck them on a sidewalk.

The crash happened Wednesday morning in Brighton when the car veered off the road and struck a utility pole.

A third child walking with the group was not injured.

Authorities said the woman had been babysitting the three children at the time of the crash.
