4 dead in Halloween night shooting in northern California: authorities

ORINDA, Calif. — At least four people were killed and several others were injured during a shooting in northern California on Halloween night.

The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office initially tweeted that they were working with the Orinda Police Department on a “multiple shooting” in Orinda early Friday. Five hours later, authorities confirmed four fatalities and several injuries.

Video from the scene posted by KGO-TV showed multiple patients being loaded into ambulances as others limped away from the scene. Video also showed police talking to people who appeared injured.

A dispatcher at the sheriff’s office said the public information officer would release more information later this morning, but he did not provide a time.

Orinda is a city in Contra Costa County and is located about 10 miles northeast of Oakland.
