ELIZABETH, N.J. — A toddler is expected to be OK after an awning broke his fall when he tumbled from a third-floor window in New Jersey Friday night, police sources say.

It happened just after 8 p.m. in Elizabeth, N.J.

The father told PIX11 News he was doing dishes with his wife and thought his brother was putting the 3-year-old boy to bed.

Somehow the child got into the spare bedroom and fell from the window, which miraculously broke the child's fall.

There was no guard on the window.

The child was transported to University Hospital in stable condition.

The father said he is grateful his son is alive and going to be OK.
