(PIX11) -- Horses are healing in New Jersey.

“For those who really do not want to talk about it, the horses are able to communicate on another level that provides peace and trust,” said Spring Reins of Life, an equine therapy program in the Garden State.

Teens who are having trouble navigating the tumult of high school. Young children who have a hard time processing the death of a loved one. Veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and are at risk of becoming one of 23 military members who take their own lives every day.

These are the populations that turn to equine therapy for help healing.

Run entirely by volunteers, the organization relies on funding and spends nearly 90 percent of that funding on services and programs that are free to all.

Proving equine therapy to veterans with PTSD for two years, Spring Reins of Life is the first of its kind in New York and New Jersey to earn the EAGALA Military Services Provider Certificate.

The stables are located at Foxx Creek Farm at 281 Longhill Road in Hillsborough, NJ.

A fundraiser is set for Oct. 26 to support the organization. Click here to learn how you can get involved.

Hello PIX 11 and Dunkin Donuts! Thank you so much for coming out to the farm and meeting our team and our special Herd of 4 legged therapists and teachers! We had never been on LIVE TV before so we were a little nervous (mainly glad the horses were “on” in those specific minutes bc there is no way to control that! Thank you for the exposure an support, we work tirelessly to keep this moving because it really works. For severe trauma, the horses offer a way to find resiliency and coping skills that allow next steps of recovery to progress. There isn’t really a cure for PTSD injury or bereavement — but finding personal resolve, strength, and hope provide a new way to live forward. Where you have control over the triggers, memories and stereotypes! And that is healing in itself. EAGALA changed my life in giving me a way to make life’s work with horses – to be able to share something so powerful with others in need is a blessing, I will keep pushing and shouting and begging for support ad funding bc I know and witness the good horses provide in this arena…and it lasts a lifetime! Thank you for sharing our work and vision with the PIX audience! Happy trails… CC an the Herd
