‘Popular’ Queens teacher accused of having sexual affair with 16-year-old student

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — The high school phys. ed teacher said nothing about her alleged ongoing affair with a student as she left a Queens courthouse Tuesday.

The Queens District Attorney saying the case is particularly disturbing.

39-year-old Joy Morsi accused of having sexual relations with a 16-year-old male student on multiple occasions since June of last year, meeting the student in the basement and other locations right inside of the Grover Cleveland High School.

The affair came to a screeching halt just a couple of weeks ago after the teen apparently asked another girl to the prom.

That young girl’s parents alerted the school and now Morsi is charged with 20 counts of rape, criminal sexual act and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Morsi could face four years in prison.

Students at the school say the teacher was popular and some even suspected something was going on with another student.

Morsi was released on $25,000 bail. If convicted, she could face up to four years in prison.
