Police say the worker — who was working on a water main along 9th Avenue — was sitting in the driver’s side of a van when he was shot just after 9 a.m on 49th Street.

The construction company the man works for believes the shooter is a former employee.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he is expected to be treated and released.
