In Egypt, the U.S. is doubling down on embassy security after an American was killed in Alexandria.

The State Department has identified him as 21-year-old Andrew Pochter of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Officials say he was killed Friday, while taking pictures of the fighting between political friends and foes of President Mohammed Morsi.

The young man’s family says Andrew, who’s a college student, was there to teach Egyptian children English and to improve his Arabic.

Washington moved quickly to shore up security to head off a repeat of last year’s deadly 9/11 attack on members of the diplomatic corps in Benghazi, Libya.
