NYC public school teacher arrested on sex-assault charges against child

A New York City public school teacher was arrested early Wednesday on sexual-assault charges against a child.

Police from the 41st Precinct in the Bronx arrested Brian Kearins, 33, on charges of  rape, criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child.

Kearins, a music teacher, began at Lehman High School in September 2003.

“He has been removed from the school and reassigned away from students. We will be seeking his termination,”  the Department of Education said in a statement.
