Six people hospitalized after car jumps curb in Midtown

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Six people were injured after a two-car accident caused one vehicle to jump a Midtown curb Friday afternoon, authorities said.

One of the victims was a pedestrian and the other five were inside the car when it flew onto the sidewalk and into a planter.

The accident happened around 4:45 p.m. in front of the Barnes and Noble at 5th Ave. and 46th St. where the driver lost control.

Six people were taken to area hospitals with injuries.  One person was injured critically and sent to Cornell Pediatric.  Two others were sent to Cornell with minor injuries.

Three others were sent to Bellevue Hospital — one with serious injuries, another with minor injuries and a third as a cardiac patient.

It is unclear whether or not the slick conditions contributed to the crash.
