A house exploded in Howard Beach, Queens Wednesday afternoon, injuring at least one person.

The home, which was being  fixed through the city’s post-Hurricane Sandy house repairs program,  was damaged in what may have been a gas explosion.

Neighbor says house, at 162-39 84th St.,  belongs to a retired NYPD officer who just made the repairs to his home.

The explosion collapsed a wall and set off a two-alarm fire.

The neighborhood was severely damaged by Hurricane Sandy in late October. Many homes in the area are being repaired through the free Rapid Repairs program.

The victim is said to be a woman who sustained burns and has been hospitalized.
