HAMPTON COUNTY, South Carolina (PIX11) – Parents at one school in South Carolina are furious over what they say administrators did to their kids. The parents claim the middle school singled out groups of students– reading their names over the loud speaker–and labeling them overweight.

It took place after the school conducted a health screening. They found 40 students were at the risk of becoming obese.

“Everyone there knew who else was there,” said parent Cheasta Scheller. “By the time they were done and went on to the next school period, it was labeled the fat meeting.”

Parents of the students singled out say getting their kids to eat after being publicly humiliated has been a challenge. At least one parent has contacted a lawyer.
