BRONX (PIX11)–  Sunday is a very busy day along 149th Street here in the South Bronx, everyone is out shopping, some with their entire family so you can imagine the panic when a car goes out of control and hops the sidewalk.

There were desperate screams and people diving for safety when the elderly driver plowed his car into a crowd of pedestrians. A witness saw a man shove his wife out of the way only to be struck and knocked into the air.

Cops say the 85-year-old driver apparently hit the gas peddle by mistake severing a parking sign, tearing a hole in a building wall and smashing into a Con ED truck.

Four people were rushed to Lincoln Hospital where one remains in serious condition. No charges were brought against the driver.

They seriously need to take this man's driver's license away from him and never let him drive ever again. Accidently putting his foot on the gas instead of the brake pedal? C'mon now…. Get Real! Give him some time or community service or a fine or something. Don't let him get away with this. It could of have killed someone!
