Natalie Malik said the bag of potpourri she bought this weekend at the Riverhead Home Goods store had a live snake in it.  She didn’t actually see the snake, she heard pieces of potpourri dropping onto the floor the morning after she put it into a bowl, and when she investigated, found an eight-inch length of fresh snake skin in the potpourri.

She took it to DNJ Reptile store and experts there told her it was real, and had been shed recently.

Natalie Malik said the bag of potpourri she bought this weekend at the Riverhead Home Goods store had a live snake in it.

They helped her put baking powder along the walls to try to trace the snake’s tracks, plus set up box traps, but so far, no luck in catching the snake.

They can’t tell what kind it is, because they don’t have the skin from the head.

Natalie is worried most about her Pomeranians, and has kept them upstairs with her, not wanting them to encounter the snake, should it ever appear.

Home Goods says it’s investigating.
