Cold sores, herpes linked to memory loss: study

Researchers have found that the virus that causes cold sores, and other viruses or bacterial infections, may be associated with memory loss.

A long-term study of a group of people in one neighborhood of New York City found that those with higher levels of antibodies in their blood were more likely to have cognitive problems, compared to people with lower levels.

Those who had higher levels of infection had a 25 percent increase in the risk of a low score on a common test of cognition — called the mini-mental state examination.

Critics claim there’s no direct cause and effect here and more work needs to be done to take a closer look at this possible connection.

HSV1 and HSV2 are not the scourge we once believed them to be. There are many promising studies underway and some highly effective treatments are even available today. I wish there would be more news stories of this type. With Valtrex and other anti-virals, many people have found supression for decades. Newer Gen 2 treatments like the compounds in Viradux-AU will take it to the next stage of eradication. Please do your research.
