1,000 flights canceled at Midwest airports as East Coast braces for storm’s arrival

(WGN) – Airlines canceled about 1,000 flights  in advance of a late-season snow storm that is walloping the Midwest.

The Chicago’s Department of Aviation department says more than 850 flights were canceled at O’Hare International Airport.

The storm is expected to swing over the East Coast on Wednesday, bringing a miserable mixture of rain, wind and wet, heavy snow.  There is a coastal flood watch in New Jersey, and a winter storm warning in Central and Northern New Jersey.

Winds are expected to hit a max of 60 MPH in parts of the Tri-State, and a wind warning is also in effect.
