It’s clear that Vice President Joe Biden is no stranger to a gaffe here and there, but this weekend he managed to out-do himself, committing the mother of all blunders that literally re-writes the history books.

During the Iowa State Society Inauguration ball, Biden had some interesting news for a crowd that sparked an eruption of confused laughter.

“I’m proud to be President of the United States,” he proclaimed to the audience.

After the crowd responded with cheers and laughter, Biden corrected himself.”I’m proud to be Vice President of the United States,” he said, “and I’m prouder to be Barack Obama, President Barack Obama’s Vice President.”
