On Thursday night, PIX11 aired a story about a Bronx homeowner who said the city tree outside his house came down in Superstorm Sandy and completely destroyed his sidewalk.  Now the city says he has to pay for the destruction.

The massive crater in the side walk was dangerous for pedestrians, as it forced them into the street to get by.

“The tree fell, smashed the car, barely missed the house. We have been waiting to get it fixed, they tell us they are not fixing it,” homeowner Daryll Sanders said.

PIX11 called the Department of Transportation, Parks Department, and finally the Department of Design and Construction, who agreed to fix the hole and foot the bill!

“That is a beautiful thing! That it is my Christmas present from the city and PIX11,” Sanders said.
