Almost all of the 2 MILLION YARDS of Hurricane Sandy debris carted out of Rockaway

Seven weeks after Hurricane Sandy hit, the huge amount of debris left behind in Rockaway, Queens is nearly gone.

The state says workers hauled away about 90 percent of the trash there. It says there was about two million yards of downed trees, power lines and building materials left lying on the streets.

People can now get back into their homes, school can reopen.and businesses can resume operations
